Pokémon World Championships 2027 Singapore: What TCG Players & Collectors Can Expect

Singapore is about to become the centre of the Pokémon world.

The 2027 Pokémon World Championships will take place in Singapore from 13 to 15 August 2027, with the main event hosted at Singapore EXPO at Changi. The Pokémon Company's official Worlds page has already confirmed both the dates and Singapore EXPO as the venue. 

Local reports from CNA and The Straits Times have additionally reported that Championship Sunday will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, setting up an arena-style finale for the final day of competition.

For Singapore Pokémon fans, this is much bigger than simply another tournament.

It will be the first Pokémon World Championships ever held in Singapore, the first in Southeast Asia, and the tournament's return to Asia after Yokohama, Japan in 2023.

And if past World Championships are any indication, the impact will extend far beyond the players actually competing.

Collectors can potentially look forward to special World Championships merchandise, promotional cards and event-themed collectibles. Pokémon TCG players may have side events, local tournaments and opportunities to play against Trainers visiting from around the world. Meanwhile, Singapore's wider Pokémon and TCG community could experience one of its busiest weeks ever.

Here is everything currently confirmed about Pokémon Worlds 2027 Singapore, together with what players and collectors can reasonably expect based on previous World Championships.

When Is Pokémon World Championships 2027?

The 2027 Pokémon World Championships will run from Friday, 13 August to Sunday, 15 August 2027.

The official Pokémon website currently lists:

Dates: 13–15 August 2027
Main Venue: Singapore EXPO, Changi, Singapore 

Multiple Singapore news sources have also reported that Championship Sunday on 15 August will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

That would give the 2027 event an interesting two-venue structure: Singapore EXPO for the main competition and convention experience, followed by an arena setting for the biggest matches of the weekend.

Exact schedules, hall layouts, opening hours and spectator arrangements have not yet been announced.

What Is the Pokémon World Championships?

The Pokémon World Championships, commonly called Pokémon Worlds, is the final championship event of the annual competitive Pokémon season.

The world's top qualified players travel to the host city to compete for World Champion titles and prizes.

Recent World Championships have featured:

• Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG)
• Pokémon Video Game Championships (VGC)
• Pokémon GO
• Pokémon UNITE

However, an important change has already been confirmed for 2027.

Pokémon UNITE will not be part of the 2027 Pokémon World Championships. Its championship will instead become a separate tournament called the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo.

The Singapore event is therefore expected to centre around the Pokémon TCG, VGC and Pokémon GO.

Why Pokémon Worlds 2027 Is Such a Big Deal for Singapore

Pokémon Worlds normally requires Singapore players and collectors who want the full experience to travel overseas.

Recent host cities have included:

2023 – Yokohama, Japan
2024 – Honolulu, Hawaii
2025 – Anaheim, California
2026 – San Francisco, California
2027 – Singapore

Singapore therefore becomes only the latest in a small group of cities outside the United States to host Worlds.

The 2023 Yokohama Championship was particularly significant because it was the first Worlds held in Japan, despite Pokémon being a Japanese franchise. Singapore hosting the next Asian edition gives Southeast Asian players a similar opportunity to experience Worlds without travelling halfway around the world.

For local Pokémon TCG players, that means something even more important:

Worlds is literally coming to our home competitive circuit.

How Can Singapore Pokémon TCG Players Qualify for Worlds 2027?

This is one area where Singapore players should be careful when reading American or European guides.

The competitive pathway in Asia is different.

The Pokémon Company's international Championship Series explains that competitors in Japan, South Korea, mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region receive Worlds invitations through their respective regional organised-play programmes, rather than simply following the same Championship Point qualification structure used by players in regions such as North America and Europe.

For Singapore, that means following the 2026–27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series.

The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the 2026–27 circuit runs across:

Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

The four tournament levels are:

Great Ball League
Ultra Ball League
Premier Ball League
Master Ball League

The Pokémon Company describes these as progressively larger levels of competition designed for everyone from developing players to top competitive players.

The 2026–27 Singapore Premier Ball League is already listed on the official Pokémon TCG Trainers Website, showing how substantial local organised play has become: its Masters division alone lists capacity for 1,000 participants.

For players dreaming of representing Singapore at a home World Championships, the 2026–27 season is therefore the one to watch very closely.

What Can Pokémon TCG Players Expect at Worlds 2027?

The main Worlds tournament itself is not an open tournament.

You cannot simply buy a ticket, bring your deck and enter the Pokémon TCG World Championships.

Competitor registration is invitation-only.

But that doesn't mean regular players have nothing to do.

Historically, Worlds has offered an entire ecosystem of Pokémon activities around the main competition.

Side Events Have Been a Major Part of Previous Worlds

At the 2024 World Championships, Pokémon ran side events available to attendees with official event badges.

Pokémon TCG options included formats such as:

Standard
Gym Leader Challenge
Build & Battle

The official event page specifically described side events as an opportunity to play smaller tournaments, earn prizes and meet players from around the world.

This is one of the most interesting possibilities for Singapore.

Imagine sitting down at Singapore EXPO and playing against Trainers visiting from Japan, the United States, Europe, Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia.

Even without qualifying for the World Championships itself, Worlds can be one of the best Pokémon TCG community experiences available.

We do not yet know which side events will be offered in Singapore in 2027, so players should wait for the official schedule before preparing a particular deck.

What Can Pokémon Card Collectors Expect?

This may become one of the biggest areas of interest surrounding Worlds 2027.

Pokémon World Championships has a long history of producing event-specific collectibles.

And host-city theming matters.

Recent Worlds merchandise and promotional artwork has been closely tied to the location hosting the event.

That raises the very obvious question:

What will Pokémon create for Singapore?

World Championships Promo Cards

Worlds promotional cards are already a recognised collecting category.

Since 2023, one notable competitor and event promo has been Paradise Resort, with different artwork produced to match each World Championships location.

The 2024 Honolulu version used Hawaii-inspired artwork. However, a new version appeared for Anaheim in 2025. Competitors received the promo through their Worlds welcome kit, and copies could also be earned through selected side events.

 

Older World Championships also had the famous Champion's Festival promos, making Worlds cards an established collecting tradition rather than a one-off experiment.

Pikachu promo cards were also created for Pokémon World Championships. 2025 was of Pikachu fighting Iron Thorns at the Anaheim Stadium while 2026 was of Pikachu fighting Gardevoir at the Golden Gate Bridge.

 

 

Whether Paradise Resort continues in 2027 or Pokémon introduces something completely new has not been announced.

But given the precedent, a Singapore-themed Worlds TCG promo would immediately become one of the most interesting collectibles of the event.

Collectors should also remember that distribution matters enormously.

A competitor-only card, staff card, side-event prize and mass participation promo can look similar while having dramatically different availability.

Do not assume every card carrying a 2027 Worlds logo will have the same rarity.

Could We Get a Singapore-Themed Pikachu Promo?

This is one of the obvious possibilities collectors will be watching.

Pokémon has increasingly used Pikachu as the face of World Championships merchandise and celebrations.

For example, Play! Pokémon stores ran 2025 Worlds Celebration tournaments where participants could receive a stamped Pikachu promo, with winners receiving a special WINNER-stamped version.

Pokémon repeated the concept for the 2026 World Championships, again offering a Pikachu card themed around the host city. This time featuring a San Francisco-inspired background. Winners also received a WINNER-stamped version. 

That gives us two consecutive years of precedent.

So although nothing has been confirmed for Singapore yet, a 2027 Worlds Celebration Pikachu featuring Singapore-themed artwork would not be surprising at all.

Imagine artwork incorporating elements inspired by Singapore's skyline, greenery, transport or landmarks.

Pokémon Worlds Merchandise Could Be Huge in Singapore

World Championships merchandise has become an attraction in its own right.

At Anaheim Worlds 2025, Pokémon operated a temporary Pokémon Center Worlds pop-up store carrying merchandise including a special Worlds Pikachu plush and merchandise using exclusive Worlds artwork.

Previous events have offered items such as:

plushes, apparel, deck boxes, card sleeves, playmats, pins, accessories and exclusive World Championships-themed merchandise.

Competitors themselves receive extensive welcome kits.

For the 2026 World Championships, the official competitor welcome kit contained items including a:

Backpack
Card sleeves
Deck box
Hat
Pin
Pin album
Playmat
Screen cleaner
T-shirt

World Champions even received separate gold-themed Champion items.

Will There Be a Pokémon Center at Worlds 2027 Singapore?

This has not yet been announced.

However, temporary Pokémon Center stores have been a major part of previous World Championships.

At Anaheim in 2025, the Pokémon Center pop-up was actually accessible without a Worlds spectator badge, but visitors still needed a separate Pokémon Center reservation.

At Yokohama Worlds 2023, Pokémon also used a reservation/lottery structure for access to the Worlds Store.

That means Singapore collectors should not assume that simply attending Worlds will guarantee the ability to purchase exclusive merchandise.

If a temporary Pokémon Center Worlds store is announced for Singapore, reservation information may be every bit as important as spectator ticketing.

There is at least one advantage Singapore already has: we have an existing Pokémon Center at Jewel Changi Airport.

But that does not mean regular Pokémon Center Singapore stock will necessarily include Worlds-exclusive merchandise.

Expect Popular Merchandise to Be Extremely Competitive

Collectors planning to attend should also learn from previous Worlds.

Pokémon has imposed purchase limits on selected merchandise at past temporary Pokémon Center locations, specifically to make products available to more customers.

Even so, community accounts from Anaheim 2025 described popular plushes, apparel sizes and exclusive items selling out during the weekend, while Pokémon Center reservation slots themselves became highly sought after.

The inaugural PokémonXP and Worlds experience in San Francisco in 2026 also produced complaints surrounding overcrowding, queues and limited activities, although many attendees still described the overall experience extremely positively.

With Singapore positioned within easy travelling distance of Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and much of Asia, demand for 2027 could potentially be enormous.

The lesson is simple:

Do not wait until Worlds weekend to start researching tickets and reservations.

Will There Be Spectator Tickets for Pokémon Worlds 2027?

Very likely, based on previous events. However, nothing has been announced yet.

Being a competitor and being a spectator are completely different things.

The main World Championships requires qualification.

Spectators historically obtain event badges separately.

At Yokohama 2023, all attendees required badges to access the championship event, and Pokémon used spectator registration for non-competitors.

Anaheim 2025 also used spectator registration, with demand high enough that community discussions tracked selections and later waves of single-day passes.

For Singapore 2027, Pokémon has not yet announced:

Spectator ticket prices
Lottery or registration method
Number of spectator tickets
Single-day versus weekend passes
Age rules
Championship Sunday ticket arrangements

Until Pokémon publishes official details, any website claiming to sell guaranteed 2027 spectator access should be treated very cautiously.

Worlds Celebration Events Could Bring 2027 to Local Pokémon Shops Too

This is one part of Worlds that people who cannot attend Singapore EXPO should watch.

For both 2025 and 2026, Pokémon organised Worlds Celebration tournaments through participating local Play! Pokémon stores.

The 2026 programme ran from 21 to 30 August and rewarded participating Trainers with a special Pikachu promo. Tournament winners received the WINNER-stamped version and additional event-themed accessories.

So Worlds doesn't necessarily exist only inside the main venue.

It can spill into local Pokémon communities too.

If Pokémon continues that programme in 2027, Singapore could potentially see a much wider series of Pokémon TCG activities surrounding Worlds week.

That would be particularly significant given that the host country itself will already be filled with international players and collectors.

Singapore's Pokémon TCG Community Is Already Building Towards Worlds

Worlds 2027 isn't arriving in a country without competitive Pokémon infrastructure.

Singapore already has an established local Pokémon TCG organised-play ecosystem.

The Pokémon Company launched the 2026–27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series in Singapore together with Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.

Official Pokémon TCG events are held throughout the year, ranging from more accessible competitions to the major Premier Ball and Master Ball League events.

Singapore's 2025–26 Master Ball League Masters event, for example, had capacity for 700 players, while the upcoming 2026–27 Premier Ball League Masters division lists capacity for 1,000.

That means the arrival of Worlds could accelerate something that is already happening:

more people learning to play rather than only collecting Pokémon cards.

For us at Sawadeekard, Pokémon started primarily through the TCG side of the hobby: sealed products, pack openings, collecting, buying, selling and the community that forms around the cards.

Worlds coming to Singapore creates an opportunity to go much further.

During the build-up to August 2027, there will likely be two overlapping groups.

The first will be competitive players looking for legal cards, deck pieces, accessories and information about organised play.

The second will be collectors watching Worlds promotional cards, exclusive products, sealed Pokémon TCG releases and memorabilia connected to the event.

And many people will fall somewhere in between.

A collector watching Worlds may decide to build their first deck.

A competitive player may want to keep a Singapore Worlds promo as a souvenir.

Someone who normally only opens Pokémon booster packs may see the TCG played at the highest level for the first time and realise there is an entire competitive game behind the cards they collect.

That crossover is one of the things we find most exciting about having Worlds in Singapore.

There is no need to rush out and buy anything simply because Worlds has been announced.

Instead, start learning how Pokémon distributes Worlds items.

Worlds promotional cards – find out whether they are participant, competitor, side-event, staff or winner promos.

Pokémon Center exclusives – check whether reservations are required and whether purchase limits apply.

Competitor merchandise – understand that some items were never publicly sold.

Local Celebration promos – these may be significantly more accessible than true competitor-only products.

Worlds-themed sealed TCG products – distinguish official retail releases from secondary-market bundles created by sellers.

Collectors should especially avoid assuming that something is rare simply because it has “World Championships” printed on it.

Distribution is what determines scarcity.

What Pokémon TCG Players Should Do Before Worlds 2027

If your goal is actually to compete at Worlds, start much earlier.

Singapore's 2026–27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series has already begun.

Even if becoming a World Championship competitor is not realistic yet, joining Great Ball League events, Pokémon TCG Gym events and other organised play can help you understand competitive rules and tournament structure before moving into larger events.

Players should also become comfortable with:

60-card deck construction, Standard format legality, deck registration, tournament procedures, replacement sleeves, damage counters, Special Condition markers and proper gameplay etiquette.

Official Singapore tournament listings already specify many of these requirements for major local competitions.

And even if you never qualify for Worlds, playing Pokémon competitively during the year that Worlds comes to Singapore sounds like a pretty good excuse to finally build that deck.

Could Pokémon Worlds 2027 Affect Pokémon Card Demand in Singapore?

Possibly—but collectors should avoid turning that into a blanket investment thesis.

Worlds brings enormous attention to particular decks and cards.

When a Pokémon TCG deck performs well on the biggest competitive stage, playable cards inside that deck naturally receive more attention from players.

At the same time, World Championships promotional cards and event-exclusive merchandise attract collectors for very different reasons.

So Worlds can generate demand from both directions:

competitive demand for playable cards, and
collector demand for commemorative products.

But those two markets behave differently.

A tournament staple can lose demand after rotation or a metagame change.

A limited event promo may hold collector interest regardless of whether the card itself is competitively useful.

If you are buying around Worlds, know which market you are actually participating in.

What Happened at Previous Pokémon World Championships?

Looking back at previous events gives us the best idea of what Singapore could eventually receive.

Yokohama 2023

The first Pokémon Worlds held in Japan included spectator activities, a Pokémon Center Worlds Store, exclusive merchandise, side events, special figures and event promotions. Pokémon also ran city-wide Worlds celebration activities around Yokohama.

Honolulu 2024

Honolulu continued the location-specific Worlds identity, including Hawaii-themed artwork and a unique Paradise Resort promo. Side events included Pokémon TCG Standard, Gym Leader Challenge and Build & Battle.

Anaheim 2025

Anaheim featured another Worlds Pokémon Center pop-up, exclusive merchandise, a Worlds Pikachu plush, Paradise Resort promo, spectator activities and local Worlds Celebration tournaments featuring a Pikachu promo.

San Francisco 2026

Worlds moved to San Francisco alongside the inaugural PokémonXP fan event. Pokémon again offered more than US$2 million in total Championship prizes, Worlds-themed competitor merchandise and Celebration tournament promos. The weekend concluded with Singapore being revealed as the host of Worlds 2027.

That history makes it clear that Pokémon Worlds has evolved into much more than a tournament hall.

It is now a global Pokémon celebration.
