What Is Disney Lorcana: Hyperia City?

Hyperia City is a Disney Lorcana expansion that brings together familiar Disney characters, new artwork and additional gameplay possibilities. As with previous Lorcana releases, the set offers something for both players building decks and collectors searching for special versions of their favourite characters.

For collectors, the most exciting cards are often the special rarities featuring distinctive artwork. These cards can become important additions to character collections, display binders and long-term collecting goals.

For players, new cards introduce more options for deck construction and strategies. Some cards may become more desirable as players explore how they perform in different formats and combinations.

Before opening packs, it is worth understanding the different rarities and deciding whether your priority is collecting, playing or a mixture of both.

The Hyperia City Chase Cards to Know

When collectors talk about chase cards, they generally mean cards they particularly want to find in booster packs. The reasons vary: distinctive artwork, a favourite character, rarity, competitive usefulness or personal collecting goals.

For Hyperia City, three rarities are especially worth understanding: Iconic, Enchanted and Epic.

1. Iconic Cards: The Standout Collectibles

Iconic cards are among the headline rarities collectors may prioritise when opening packs.

Two cards highlighted for Hyperia City are:

• Mickey Mouse - Best in Town
• Cinderella - Unintentional Icon

Mickey Mouse remains one of Disney's most recognisable characters, making a special Mickey card an appealing prospect for character collectors. Cinderella, meanwhile, offers another classic Disney character for collectors who focus on Disney Princess cards.

If you are collecting by character, these cards may be worth adding to your personal wishlist. If you are collecting by rarity, they are natural cards to watch for when checking the set's special card variants.

As always, rarity alone does not guarantee a particular resale value. Demand, condition, availability and collector preferences can all influence what a card is worth.

2. Enchanted Cards: Special Artwork for Collectors

Enchanted cards are a major attraction for Disney Lorcana collectors because of their special alternate artwork and collectible appeal.

For collectors who enjoy displaying cards or building character-focused binders, Enchanted cards can be particularly appealing. They offer an alternative way to collect familiar Disney characters beyond their regular card versions.

Characters and cards highlighted for Hyperia City include:

• Marie - Caught in the Act
• Max Goof - Karaoke Star
• Ariel - Collector of Oddities
• Aurora - Delightful Musician
• Thomas O’Malley - Savvy Vagabond
• Baymax - Amped Up
• Tiana - Party Hostess
• Raya - Determined Explorer

The set also draws attention to characters and themes from Coco, including Miguel Rivera, Héctor Rivera and Pepita, alongside references to songs such as Remember Me and Un Poco Loco.

For Disney fans, these character and film connections can be just as important as rarity. A collector who loves Coco, for example, may be more interested in finding cards connected to the film than chasing every special card in the expansion.

Collector tip: Make a shortlist of the characters you most want before opening packs. This helps you set realistic goals and decide whether you prefer opening sealed products, trading with other collectors or buying specific cards individually.

3. Epic Cards: Another Rarity to Watch

Epic cards add another collecting category to consider when exploring Hyperia City.

Cards highlighted in connection with this rarity include:

• Daisy Duck - Savvy Investor
• Toulouse - Rough and Tumble
• Tiana - Restauranteur
• Flash - Efficient Clerk
• Ancestral Guitar

Epic cards may appeal to collectors who want to explore more of the set beyond its headline rarities. They can also be relevant to players interested in how new cards fit into their existing decks.

As with any new release, it is sensible to separate collecting interest from competitive expectations. A card's gameplay potential becomes clearer as players test it, develop strategies and share results.

Important: Before publishing a card-by-card checklist, confirm each card's official name, rarity and numbering against the latest official card gallery or set checklist. Details can change or be reported incorrectly during a set's preview period.

What Makes Hyperia City Interesting for Players?

Although special artwork attracts collectors, the gameplay side of a new Disney Lorcana expansion is equally important.

A new set gives players additional cards to consider when refining decks, experimenting with character combinations and exploring different strategies. A card that initially attracts attention for its character or artwork may also turn out to be useful in a particular deck.

Keep an Eye on Ink Drops

One gameplay feature associated with Hyperia City is Ink Drops, a temporary resource mechanic. The precise rules and interactions should be checked against the official release notes before players incorporate it into their decks.

For competitive players, the important questions are how a new mechanic affects resource management, which cards interact with it, and whether it creates useful combinations with cards from earlier sets.

For casual players, new mechanics offer another reason to experiment and discover different ways to play.

To understand the set's official rules and card interactions, refer to the Hyperia City release notes.

Should You Open Packs or Buy Individual Cards?

One of the most common questions surrounding a new trading card game release is whether it makes more sense to open booster packs or buy the exact cards you want.

There is no single answer. It depends on your collecting goals, budget and enjoyment of opening packs.

Opening Booster Packs

Opening packs can be fun if you enjoy the excitement of discovering which cards you receive. It also lets you explore the set and collect a variety of cards for trading or deck-building.

However, the contents are random. You should not expect to pull a specific Iconic, Enchanted or Epic card, even after opening multiple packs.

Buying Individual Cards

Buying singles can be more practical if you have a specific card in mind. Instead of relying on random pulls, you can look for the exact card you need to complete a collection or improve a deck.

This approach can be particularly helpful if you only collect certain characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Ariel, Cinderella or the characters from Coco.

A Balanced Approach

Some collectors enjoy opening a modest number of packs and then purchasing or trading for the remaining cards they want.

Whichever approach you choose, decide on a comfortable budget beforehand. Special rarities can be exciting to chase, but no individual pull is guaranteed.

Tips for Collecting Hyperia City Cards

Whether you are a new Disney Lorcana collector or have been following the game since its earlier sets, a little planning can make a new release more enjoyable.

Decide What You Want to Collect

Some collectors aim to complete an entire set. Others focus on special rarities, favourite characters or cards featuring particular Disney films.

Choosing a goal helps you prioritise which cards to look for and makes it easier to track your progress.

Check the Official Card Gallery

Use the official card gallery and release information to verify card names, artwork, rarity and set details. This is particularly important when looking at preview articles or community checklists.

You can start with the official Hyperia City product page.

Protect Your Favourite Cards

If you pull a card you want to keep, store it carefully. Sleeves and suitable storage help protect cards from handling, surface wear and other damage.

For particularly important cards, consider how you want to display or store them before handling them frequently.

Be Patient With New-Release Prices

Prices for newly released trading cards can change as more products reach the market and collectors learn more about supply and demand.

A card's initial asking price is not necessarily a reliable indication of its long-term value. Compare listings carefully and avoid assuming that every rare card will increase in price.

Enjoy the Collection, Not Just the Chase

The most rewarding card is not always the rarest one. A favourite character, memorable piece of artwork or card that fits perfectly into your deck can be just as meaningful as a headline pull.
